The Federal Government (FG) of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 21, 2023, and Monday, April 24, 2023, as public holidays to celebrate the Islamic festival of Eid-al-Fitr. This announcement was made by the Minister for Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on behalf of the FG, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Shuaib Belgore.

In his statement, Aregbesola urged all Muslim faithfuls in the country to practice the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, sacrifice, and good neighborliness. He also congratulated them on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and advised that the self-restraint, self-denial, sacrifice, and deep spiritual consciousness that accompanied the fasting period should not end but rather be maintained and improved upon for personal betterment and true worship.

Furthermore, the Minister expressed his appreciation to all security agencies in the country for their unwavering efforts and commitment towards ensuring the safety of all citizens and residents of Nigeria. He assured the government's continued commitment to providing adequate security for the life and property of every citizen in the country.

Aregbesola concluded the statement by wishing all Muslim faithfuls in Nigeria a happy and peaceful Eidil-Fitr celebration, while praying that the peace, blessings, and favor of Allah continue to be with them all.
