Esosa Iyawe, who was recently voted into the House of Representatives to serve the Oredo Federal Constituency of Edo State, has made a surprising revelation in a recent interview with Punch. He disclosed that he had intended to leave the country before winning the election, citing the high cost of living and the miserable condition of the country as his primary reasons for considering relocation.

According to Iyawe, he had even made arrangements to move out of the country before he made the decision to enter politics. He further explained that he switched to the Labour party after Godwin Obaseki's former deputy, Philip Shaibu, left the PDP and joined the Labour party, and that this decision had a significant impact on his political journey.

Iyawe revealed that he was motivated to join politics because he believes that Nigeria is blessed with natural resources, but that proper planning has not been put in place to ensure that the country thrives. He expressed his concerns over the high rate of inflation and the devaluation of the naira, which has made the cost of living unbearable for many Nigerians. He stated that many countries with fewer resources than Nigeria are living well because of proper planning, while Nigeria has remained underdeveloped for several years.

In his words, "At one point, I even had plans of relocating to another country because the more one works, the less one gets as the naira loses value daily. The cost of living is high while inflation is also skyrocketing even though Nigeria is blessed with natural resources. A lot of countries don’t have one-10th of what we have but they are living well due to proper planning while we are still battling to make things work for several years and we remain underdeveloped. So, I decided to put my hat in the ring to ensure that if Obi became the president, I would assist in making and supporting bills that would enable him to function well as one of his disciples. I believe that we need laws based on common sense to make things work. As an engineer, I believe that I have the capacity to do things that will positively impact the people of Oredo. That was why I actually jumped into the race."

In conclusion, Esosa Iyawe's decision to enter politics was motivated by his desire to make a positive impact on his community and the country at large. He believes that Nigeria has the potential to be a great nation, but that proper planning and good governance are essential to achieving this goal. With his engineering background and passion for making a difference, he is confident that he can contribute to the development of his constituency and the nation as a whole.
