Nigerian singer and record producer Young Jonn has opened up about his personal views on relationships, making it clear that he is currently not in the right place emotionally or mentally to commit to one woman.
Speaking during an appearance on the Way Up podcast with Angela Yee, the 30-year-old hitmaker explained that while he has a deep appreciation for love and values the beauty of companionship, he does not feel ready to dedicate himself to a serious, long-term relationship. Instead, he prefers to maintain lighthearted and platonic interactions with those around him, avoiding any form of deep attachment that may demand his full commitment.
“Love is a very beautiful thing and I respect it a lot. But at this stage in my life, I am not at a point where I can give that much of myself to just one person,” Young Jonn revealed. He further stressed that he does not want to place himself in situations where he might disappoint someone who expects consistency, time, and complete devotion. According to him, it is better to remain honest about his limitations than to create false expectations.
His statement comes months after rumours of his romantic involvement with Davido’s cousin, Adenike Adeleke, popularly known as Nikos Living, circulated across social media. Although the pair were reportedly close, speculation about their alleged relationship fizzled out earlier this year, with many fans assuming they had gone their separate ways.
For many of his followers, Young Jonn’s openness about his choice is refreshing, even though it stirred mixed reactions online. Some see his decision as a sign of maturity and self-awareness, while others believe it is simply an excuse for wanting to explore multiple options without accountability.
