Esteemed Nigerian actress, Shaffy Bello, has divulged her preferred response to audacious younger individuals who address her by her first name. The revelation came during a Podcast episode where she engaged in conversation with co-host Stephanie Coker.
Expressing her dissatisfaction with younger ones addressing her solely by her name, Stephanie conveyed that it felt like disrespect and caused discomfort. Curious about Shaffy Bello's perspective, given the significant age difference, she inquired if Shaffy shared similar sentiments.
[/p]In confirmation, Shaffy Bello asserted that she indeed felt the same way. She disclosed that, in such situations, she promptly corrects the younger individuals. Whether it stems from differences in upbringing or tribal influences, she ensures to address them with love while emphasizing that they have not earned the right to call her by name.
Quoting her words:
“Usually my response is very simple and I say it with love. I call them and pull them closer and say, you haven’t earned the right to call me by name. I have a child as old as you are, and even if I don’t have children, you haven’t earned the right and you will never earn that right at your age to call me by name.”
The actress also expressed her aversion to younger individuals waving at her in a casual form of greeting.
