Nigerian music star, Tiwa Savage, has been chosen to perform at the upcoming coronation of the British monarch, King Charles III. The historic event will be held at Westminster Abbey, and will see King Charles III ascend the throne after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The coronation ceremony, which will be attended by various dignitaries, will take place on May 6, 2023, and will include the coronation of Queen Consort Camilla.
The following day, May 7, 2023, a coronation concert and Big Lunch will be held, with Tiwa Savage among the select few celebrities who will perform at the event. She will be joined by other prominent artists such as Steve Winwood, DJ Pete Tong, Lang Lang and Lucy, Paloma Faith, and Olly Murs. This invitation makes Tiwa Savage the first Nigerian artist to perform at a foreign royal coronation ceremony, and one of the few African artists to receive this honor.
