Yetunde Kuti explains that her family held this perception due to the number of wives Seun Kuti's father, Fela Kuti, had married. She shares her initial hesitation towards marriage, influenced by witnessing unstable marriages around her. However, she emphasizes the importance of making sacrifices in relationships, acknowledging that people often have various reasons for their marriages not working.
In her own words, she reflects, "I have always had the idea of not wanting to be married, and my family was expecting me not to get married, especially to Seun. I grew up with people whose marriages were not stable and looked at it from their perspective, and I realized that everybody has their own reasons why their marriages didn’t work, and people can’t just continue like that."
