Famous singer, Seun Kuti, reflected on his decision to rename his colleague, Wizkid's fans from Wizkid FC to Buhari’s children, while emphasizing the issue of cyberbullying.
The Grammy nominee underscored the severity of cyberbullying and cyberstalking, highlighting incidents involving life threats and the online sharing of people’s personal information.
Drawing from his own experiences, Kuti recalled a moment when he asserted that only four Nigerian artists, including himself at the time, had received Grammy nominations, despite criticism of his musical abilities.
When questioned about Wizkid following his statement, Kuti clarified that only a music video, not an album, had been nominated.
Subsequently, Kuti noted that the fans of Wizkid (referred to as Buhari’s children) — whom he described as the uneducated masses of Nigeria — engaged in a week-long confrontation after his remarks.
Despite the intensity of the online altercation, Kuti refrained from involving the police or expressing feelings of endangerment.
In an effort to safeguard the artist's reputation, Kuti revealed that he changed the name of the fanbase from Wizkid FC to Buhari’s children.
