The backlash came after Verydarkman posted a lengthy video online, offering N500,000 to whoever snapped Nkechi’s gym photo and using the opportunity to taunt the actress, accusing her of hypocrisy. He recalled past incidents where she allegedly body-shamed other women and ridiculed her for being upset over her own photo being shared publicly.

In response, Nkechi Blessing took to her Instagram Story to post a series of passionate, profanity-laced messages aimed directly at Verydarkman and his followers. She accused them of attempting to push her into depression and slammed their efforts to use her image and name for online relevance. Her posts were filled with pointed insults, calling them “rats,” “nuisances,” and “swines,” while urging them to leave her alone and cease using her name in their online content.

The actress mocked Verydarkman’s attempts to provoke her, asserting that she would not be intimidated and warning of spiritual consequences for those she labeled as trolls. She emphasized that it was better for her “belly” to trend than any private parts, highlighting the absurdity of the online criticism and calling out the hypocrisy of those who ignored the actions that triggered her reaction in the first place. She made it clear that while she had previously given Verydarkman relevance, she would not continue to do so, repeatedly demanding that he “avoid me” and threatening the “RATS gang” with “thunder.”

On hypocrisy and online abuse

Nkechi Blessing framed her response around two main points: first, that online trolls often selectively highlight reactions while ignoring the events that cause them, and second, that she will no longer tolerate repeated public attacks. She also used her posts to call out previous critics and emphasized that she would not allow selective outrage to dictate her public image or behavior.

She wrote in part: “Shameless preek seller sef want talk no worry you go do more videos soon!!! Atleast na my belle Dey trend not my private part… Thief! And d so called RATS, ask una president who give am. Relevance in 2023…Bunch of Nuisances!!! Be like una think say I Dey fear all of una…e no go better for una full generation join together!!!
