In a display of grief, Mercy Aigbe took to Instagram to express her sorrow over Odubo's death. Aigbe, who appeared to have had a close relationship with Odubo, shared her sadness and disbelief with her followers. She posted a heartfelt message bidding farewell to the late actress, which read:

“Hmmmm! Life 🥲🥲🥲… Still in Denial, Adieu Omolara,” she wrote.

In the comments section of Aigbe’s post, her husband Kazim Adeoti, along with celebrities Bimpe Akintunde, Toyin Adewale, and Fausat Balogun, also expressed their condolences and joined in mourning Lara Odubo.

Despite these expressions of grief, some online users were critical of the public displays of mourning, arguing that the actress and her colleagues had not previously shown support for Odubo while she was alive. The criticisms were voiced through social media comments, with users pointing out the perceived insincerity of the gestures now that Odubo has passed away.

One user, Erri Tinkerat Gold, commented, “Have never seen folks posted her when she was alive. Even if it’s to wish her a birthday blessing, now that she’s dead, everyone is out on social media, giving her last respect. Loruko Jesu oni fi iku lokiki.”

Another user, Big Mozano20, added, “Why are they posting her now? Have never come across her pictures before, but it’s well. RIP.”
