A well-known Nigerian jeweller, identified as Clinton K, has been thrown into deep sorrow after armed thieves reportedly broke into his jewellery store and carted away luxury items valued at over ₦500 million in Lagos.
The heartbroken businessman took to his official X account, @SAGE___XO, to share a video where he was seen visibly shaken and crying uncontrollably as he narrated the shocking incident. His popular outlet, Queen Gold Lagos, located inside the prestigious Atlantic Centre, Chevron, was allegedly broken into by unidentified criminals who carried out the operation with precision.
According to Clinton, the burglars did not force their way in through the main door, which had been secured with a roller shutter. Instead, they discovered a hidden glass window he himself was unaware of and gained access through it, thereby bypassing the obvious security measures in place.
Sharing his pain in the emotional clip, Clinton captioned: “My shop Queen Gold Lagos located at @ATLANTICCENTRE1 Chevron was broken into and jewelries worth over 500 million naira was stolen. Everything I have ever worked for stolen. Help me.”
The heartbreaking revelation quickly went viral, sparking a flood of mixed reactions from Nigerians online. While a large number of social media users sympathized with his plight and prayed for recovery, others harshly criticized him for negligence, pointing out that such a high-value business should have had adequate insurance cover, CCTV surveillance, and expert security systems.
One netizen, @Ifeymidayo, stressed the importance of business insurance, writing: “Once your business gets to this level, abeg, get insurance for God’s sake! We’re always hearing stories of people not employing or seeking expert opinion. How do you own a shop with 500 million naira worth of jewelry and no insurance? Fire, theft, or even flooding can wipe you out in one day. In Nigeria, where anything can happen, you can’t afford to play with your investment.”
Another, @THE_CRAFT3R, was more critical, alleging: “No CCTV camera, no insurance, fake tears, something just don’t sit right.”
The viral video has since generated widespread debate on social media, with many insisting that Clinton must take urgent measures if he intends to bounce back and rebuild his brand, while others called for authorities to launch a full-scale investigation into the theft and bring the perpetrators to book.
