Nigerian musician Kingsley Okonkwo, widely recognized as Kcee, has shared the unfortunate tale of being duped out of $70,000 in a song remix scam.
In an episode of his YouTube series "Curiosity Made Me Ask," hosted by content creator Bae U, the renowned singer of hits like "Limpopo" delved into his music career spanning nearly three decades, highlighting his enduring relevance in the industry.
The 44-year-old artist reflected on the absence of recent remixes of his chart-topping tracks, attributing it to a past encounter with an American musician.
Recalling an incident from seven years ago, Kcee recounted how he disbursed $70,000 to an undisclosed American artist for a collaboration, only to have the contract breached.
He further detailed an unexpected proposition from American band One Republic to feature on a remix of their track "Ojapiano."
Addressing Bae U's inquiry regarding payment for the One Republic collaboration, Kcee clarified that no financial transaction took place, expressing astonishment at the band's interest in partnering with him.
