Veteran Nollywood actress, Ibironke Anthony Ojo, widely known as Ronke Oshodi Oke, recently expressed her regrets regarding her association with the All Progressive Congress (APC). In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, she candidly shared her deep remorse for aligning herself with the APC, as it shattered her aspirations of making a positive contribution to the development of the country.
During the conversation, Ronke Oshodi Oke expressed her anguish over the attempts made by the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to cover up the controversial End SARS movement through fabrications and lies. She empathized with the individuals who lost their loved ones and those who were injured during the tragic events of EndSARS, stating her regret for ever associating herself with the political party.
In her own words, she said, "I had believed that APC was going to take Nigeria to the next level. That's how I felt, even while we were campaigning for them. I didn't join for the sake of money; that wasn't my motivation."
Furthermore, Ronke Oshodi Oke criticized Governor Sanwo-Olu for his contradictory statements about the EndSARS movement, accusing him of lying on multiple occasions. She expressed her disappointment in his inconsistent remarks, stating, "When the ENDSARS movement came up, I was extremely disheartened. Our governor was saying three things at the same time, lying simultaneously. Does that even make sense?"
