Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has recently issued a public apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries, expressing deep regret for the defamatory statements she made against him in the past.
In the apology, Abubakar acknowledged that she had spread false information about Apostle Suleman through social media platforms, causing him significant harm, distress, and damage to his reputation.
It would be recalled that the controversy between Halima Abubakar and Apostle Suleman began in 2022, when the actress fell ill following a public dispute with the clergyman, a matter that quickly became a media spectacle.
In response to Abubakar’s illness and accusations, her family took to social media to publicly warn Apostle Johnson Suleman to stay away from her.
Throughout this time, speculation mounted that the actress was suffering from an autoimmune disease, though Abubakar disputed this by sharing her medical records online, seeking to clarify her health condition and defend her stance. Despite the heated back-and-forth, she has now surprisingly extended an olive branch by issuing a heartfelt apology in a letter to Suleman.
In the letter, Abubakar expressed her sincere remorse for tarnishing Apostle Suleman’s reputation and stated that she hoped her apology could serve as a step toward rectifying the harm she had caused.
The letter read as follows …
“I admit that I made false allegations against you, and I also deeply regret my actions and the damage I caused to you, your wife, Dr. Lizzy Suleman, your family, and the leaders of the Omega Fire Ministry.
“With this letter, I humbly ask for forgiveness, recognising that my apology cannot undo the harm, pain, and distress I caused, and I ask you to find a place in your heart to forgive me, as I was not thinking clearly at the time.
“I’m truly sorry for all the hurt and distress I caused you, your family, and the ministry.”
Abubakar’s public plea for forgiveness has sparked widespread reactions, with many onlookers reflecting on the gravity of her previous accusations and the impact they had on the individuals involved. The actress appears to be taking steps to mend fences and bring closure to a prolonged and controversial chapter in her life and career.
