The grieving mother of the late skit maker and rapidly rising comedian, Sanku Comedy, has publicly refuted claims circulating on social media that her son’s untimely death was linked to money rituals. Sanku, whose real name was Raji Samad Adetola, tragically died on Monday following a fatal car accident along the Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway in Ibadan. The news of his passing immediately triggered widespread speculation online, with some users alleging that his career success was tied to involvement in ritualistic practices, a claim his mother vehemently denies.
In a heartfelt and now-viral video message, Sanku’s mother insisted that her son led a devout Muslim life, never engaging in any form of fetish or ritual activities, and remained committed to prayer and spirituality throughout his life. She described how various religious figures had offered Sanku charms or soaps for protection, but he consistently reassured her that her prayers were sufficient and never sought external mystical help.
“Many Alfas gave him soaps to use, but he always told me to just keep praying for him. He said my prayers were enough. My son never went to any herbalist. He was always praying to God,” she tearfully recounted, emphasizing her son’s devotion and moral character.
The mother also shared touching memories of her son’s care and thoughtfulness, recalling how Sanku had encouraged her to rest from her work by moving in with him. He had promised that she would enjoy the benefits of her labor while he pursued his comedy career with dedication and passion.
“Sanku was a good child. He used to help me hawk peppers before he begged me to let him face comedy fully. He told me not to worry about anything and that he and his siblings would become great people. My son did not do money rituals,” she said, highlighting both his humility and ambition, as well as his close bond with his family and commitment to their well-being.
