Fresh details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the founder of Fountain of Life Church.
The church announced that Odukoya passed away at the age of 67 in the United States of America (USA) on Monday. While the church didn't disclose the cause of death, a report from The Nation indicates that the esteemed pastor faced health challenges primarily stemming from personal tragedies.
A source close to the family shared, "He never truly recovered from the losses he endured. He attempted to stay strong, but every man has his breaking point."
In 2005, Pastor Taiwo lost his first wife, Bimbo, in a tragic Sosoliso plane crash. She was 45 years old. The source revealed, "Pastor was deeply affected by the aftermath of Pastor Bimbo's passing, more than the event itself. Hurtful comments weighed heavily on his heart. The cruelty of those remarks affected him deeply."
"Despite the heartache, he resolved to move forward. The decision to remarry was a challenging one that required significant persuasion," the source added.
Tragedy struck again on November 9, 2021, claiming the life of his second wife, Pastor Nomthi, a South African. She was 47 years old and had two children with Pastor Taiwo.
"Pastor Nomthi's passing hit him like a knockout blow, leaving him emotionally devastated and inconsolable. He worried about public opinion," the source explained.
"It drained him completely. We tried our best to offer support, but there was little we could do. Losing his twin sister only a few weeks after his wife's death seemed to be the final straw," the source concluded.
