Don Jazzy has recently shared some valuable insights with 'upcoming' artists, shedding light on the six essential criteria he considers before signing anyone to Mavins, his renowned record label.

As a highly acclaimed music executive with a remarkable talent for discovering raw talent, Don Jazzy spoke about the six expectations he examines when considering artists from a creative perspective.

While sharing his thoughts, Don Jazzy mentioned that although he used to overlook social media savvy as a vital factor, it has now become one of the primary aspects he looks for in potential artists.

Aside from social media presence, he emphasized the significance of talent, due diligence, mannerism, character, and age as critical criteria he evaluates in aspiring artists.

According to Don Jazzy, young individuals hold the key to driving the market as they are more deeply invested in the culture and are likely to actively support and promote artists on social media platforms.

Furthermore, Don Jazzy outlined his definition of a successful artist as someone who can make a positive impact on their immediate and extended family's lives.

He stressed that as long as an artist's life has improved from yesterday and they can, in turn, uplift their own family, it is a beautiful accomplishment.

Don Jazzy's criteria for selecting new artists underscore the importance of both talent and character, while acknowledging the influential role social media plays in promoting emerging artists.

In his own words: "Once upon a time, I wouldn't have thought about signing an artist who is social media savvy, but now I kind of want to put it at the beginning of my list. Talent, due diligence, mannerism, character, and age at the moment are also kind of important. The people that move the market are the young ones because the older guys are busy making money for the family and are worried about their family. They don't care about helping you to go and stream or watching your social media to know when you post, but the young guys are still much into the whole culture."
