Prominent activist and legal practitioner Deji Adeyanju has strongly reacted to the seven-day ultimatum issued by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who through his legal counsel accused Adeyanju of making allegedly defamatory remarks against him. The notice demanded an immediate retraction, a formal public apology, and the deletion of all alleged defamatory statements across social media platforms. It further warned that failure to comply would result in serious legal action, including court proceedings and financial claims for damages.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adeyanju acknowledged receiving Obi’s legal letter signed by Chief Alex Ejesieme (SAN), but he brushed it aside as baseless and laughable. He boldly declared his readiness to confront Obi in court, insisting that the former Anambra governor is far from the saintly image he presents to the public. Adeyanju accused Obi of hypocrisy, alleging that while he pretends to be a reformist, he has a track record of attacking others and promoting divisive narratives. The activist further claimed that Obi’s loyalists, whom he described as “errand aides,” were actively involved in spreading smear campaigns online.
In his post, Adeyanju stated: “Just got this letter from Peter Obi the religious bigot demanding a retraction from me. I laughed so hard. I can’t wait to meet him in court finally. A fraud parading himself as a messiah. This same guy called the great Sowore a blackmailer-in-chief. We served his little errand girl Serah a letter to retract all her defamatory publications on Monday against my wife & she ran to the leader of the mob for help. Can’t wait to meet him in court.”

In a subsequent update, Adeyanju doubled down on his position, insisting that Obi has been secretly orchestrating coordinated online smear campaigns against critics by empowering his supporters. He emphasized that he was fully prepared to face Obi in court and expose the alleged manipulation he has long accused him of. Adeyanju also stressed that his legal battle was not just about himself but also about holding accountable those who, in his words, “hide behind a messianic image to bully others online.”
“Serah Ibrahim will soon have her day in court. Obi cannot save her and I am ready for him in court 100%. Super happy he sent that letter. It proves what we have always suspected; he is the one sending them to defame people online because they are his aides,” he wrote in another post.

The heated exchange between both figures has since attracted wide public attention, with supporters and critics weighing in on social media. While some argue that Obi’s move was a necessary step to protect his reputation, others believe Adeyanju’s bold defiance signals a looming legal showdown that could have far-reaching implications for both men’s credibility in the public eye.
