Talented musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has stated that contrary to popular belief, his father’s money did not contribute to his success in the music [/b]industry.
While answering questions on the American podcast “Business Untitled,” he made the claim and clarified that there are those from more affluent beginnings than his who have not achieved success.
He added that many have tried to carve out a career in the entertainment sector, but many haven’t been as successful as him.
Davido stated that his father’s money was his toughest obstacle when he first started his career as an artist, but he was eventually accepted.
He boasted that his talent and skill in his field have allowed him to be welcomed, saying he doubts that if he hadn’t been competent, people wouldn’t have accepted him.
OBO said:
“There are many billionaires in Nigeria, even richer than my father… And there are people [billionaire’s children] who have tried to do what I have tried to do: music, entertainment, business. But mine has been successful because of my values.
The biggest challenge I had when I started music was that my father is wealthy. But I got accepted for one reason and that reason is that I am good, talented. I don’t think I would have ever been accepted if I wasn’t good at what I do.”
