Nigerian singer Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, professionally known as Charly Boy, has fondly recalled his time with his late friend, the renowned singer Sound Sultan. In a heartfelt tribute on his Instagram page, Charly Boy described Sound Sultan as a very warm friend and emphasized that their friendship was truly one of a kind.
Charly Boy wrote:
“I remember my very warm friendship with one of the greats, Sound Sultan. RIP.”
In response to Charly Boy’s post, a comment read, “RIP Mr Sound Sultan, really love 💖 you that year, when I and Captain ADEBAYO DOSUNMU came to your house, continue to rest in Peace brother. May God Almighty keep your children and wife safe.”

It’s worth recalling that Sound Sultan passed away after a brave battle with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a group of similar lymphatic system-related diseases. At the time of his death, he was 44 years old. His passing on July 11, 2021, shocked many Nigerians, and he was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites at the Marlboro Muslim cemetery in New Jersey.
