Crossdresser, Bobrisky, has been convicted by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Ikeja after pleading guilty to naira abuse.
Before his conviction, Bobrisky pleaded with the court [/b]that he was unaware of the legislation concerning Naira abuse.
The judge then warned him that ignorance of the law was no excuse, to which Bobrisky answered, “I know, my Lord.”
According to reports, Bobrisky further said to the judge, “My lord I wish that you can give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.
“I’m a social media influencer with over five million followers. I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money.
“I will not repeat it, my lord, I regret my actions, my lord”.
When the charges were read, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the first four counts of Naira abuse.
Before the indictment was read, the EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, requested that charges five and six, which involved allegations of money laundering, be struck out.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro then ruled that counts five and six were invalid. This eased the path for Bobrisky’s arraignment on only counts one through four, which were related to naira misuse.
When the counts were read, Bobrisky was asked if he understood the charge read to him, and he said, “Yes, I am guilty”.
