Adetoun Onajobi, an activist, shared the challenges she encountered after her father's passing, revealing the difficulties faced as mortuaries and hospitals rejected his corpse.
During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, she detailed the obstacles she navigated, from hospitals refusing acceptance to the necessity of bringing her father's body home.
Reflecting on her father's death, she recounted an armed robbery at their home, during which her father managed to escape.
“When he died, the hospital refused to accept his body, citing worries about potential conflicts arising from his membership in the Ogboni Fraternity.
“No mortuary or hospital could take him because he was a lodge member. The only thing we could do was bring him back home.” Despite the challenges, Adetoun remained resolute, and her father’s body was eventually placed in his bedroom.
She also highlighted the involvement of the Methodist community, given her father's birth affiliation. However, due to the sensitive nature of the case, they did not disclose the presence of the body in the house, fearing potential robbery attempts.
The complexities surrounding her father’s death shed light on the intricate situation she faced during that period.
