In a shocking incident, a 33-year-old woman named Olaide Adekunle has been arrested by the Ogun State police command for allegedly selling her 18-month-old baby girl named Moridiat Rasaq for the sum of N600,000 to an unknown buyer in Lagos. The mother of the child reportedly sold the baby to pay off a bank loan from a microfinance bank.
According to reports, the incident was reported to the police by the woman's husband, Nureni Rasaq. He had informed the Sango divisional headquarters that his wife left home on March 15th, 2023, with their daughter, but returned home without the child.
After the report was filed, the police issued an arrest warrant for Olaide Adekunle, and upon interrogation, she confessed to selling her child to someone in Lagos for N600,000 to pay off her outstanding debt from the microfinance bank.
