A 36-year-old lawyer, identified as Abasiesebanga Ikoiwak, has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, Barrister Godwin Ikoiwak. The incident reportedly involved five others who have also been arrested.
According to reports, Barrister Godwin Ikoiwak complained to his colleague, Barrister Sunny Anyanwu, in a phone conversation that he was having issues with his wife over infidelity. The late barrister reportedly disclosed to Barrister Anyanwu that he had reported the matter to his wife’s family, who then invited him to a meeting in their family compound in Nung Udoe Itak, Ikono Local Government Area. However, he did not return home alive.
Barrister Anyanwu further revealed that his late friend told him that his wife was having a sexual relationship with her former boss, a legal practitioner named Barrister C.I. Odoh.
Additionally, the late barrister reportedly discovered that the wife had brought in a 19-year-old boy to be a houseboy, but little did he know that the boy was actually his wife’s son until he found out recently.
The prosecution team, led by the Director of Public Prosecutions in Akwa Ibom State, Barrister Joseph Umoren, tendered audio recordings, which were played in the open court.
