Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, took pride in highlighting his accomplishments during his tenure as the state's governor. According to Uzodinma, he believes that significant changes have been made in the three years since he assumed office, and the evidence is readily apparent for the people to see.

Uzodinma claimed that when he assumed office in 2020, Imo State was in a dire state, comparable to a cemetery. However, he confidently asserted that he successfully revived the state, metaphorically "exhuming the body" and breathing new life into it.

During an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today program on Wednesday, Uzodinma emphasized the challenging conditions he encountered upon assuming office. He described the state as suffering from severe infrastructural deficiencies, with virtually all roads in disrepair and hospitals non-functional.

Reflecting on the progress made during his tenure, Uzodinma stated that the stark contrast between the state's condition before his governorship and its current state in 2023 serves as tangible proof of the significant improvements achieved.

It is worth noting that in January 2020, the Supreme Court of Nigeria nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the governor of Imo State. Instead, the court declared Uzodinma, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the rightful winner of the governorship election held on March 9, 2019. The apex court's decision was based on the recognition that the results from 388 polling units had been unlawfully excluded during the collation of the final election result in Imo State.
