A university student has gone viral after an alleged post revealed that she passed away on her bed due to hunger.
The post, shared on X (formerly Twitter), was made by a user who claimed to have knowledge of the situation. The user included a photo of the student and detailed the tragic events surrounding her death. According to the post, the young woman passed away in her bed due to severe starvation, a consequence of not having enough food to eat while at university.
In the heartbreaking post, the user went on to highlight the dire situation faced by many university students in Uganda, especially those at institutions like Makerere University and Kyambogo University. The user claimed that many students are suffering from hunger, malnutrition, and its consequences, such as abdominal ulcers, with a shocking statistic that 95% of students at these universities reportedly go without proper meals due to financial constraints. This has sparked a serious concern about the worsening conditions of students in higher education institutions across Uganda.
The message resonated with many, drawing attention to a silent humanitarian crisis that has yet to receive proper intervention. The user also pointed out the urgent need for action, asking for attention to the challenges that these students face on a daily basis.
