The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, shared insights into President Bola Tinubu’s crucial role in restoring peace to Rivers State.
Former Governor Wike emphasized Tinubu's intervention, highlighting its positive impact on the state's governance structure. According to Wike, Tinubu's involvement contributed to the autonomy and effective functioning of the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary in Rivers.
Wike conveyed this message while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, shedding light on his political dispute with Fubara.
Wike expressed gratitude, stating, “The Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary are all functioning independently. All thanks to the President.”
The political clash between Wike and Fubara had escalated, resulting in the unfortunate burning of the state legislative chambers by lawmakers believed to be Fubara's supporters three months ago.
In the aftermath, some commissioners and lawmakers loyal to Wike resigned from the state executive council and joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
President Tinubu intervened in the rift, compelling the conflicting parties to sign a peace pact. As a significant outcome of this agreement, Fubara renominated and swore in the commissioners, marking a step towards reconciliation in Rivers State.
