The President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has recently joined the social media platform Threads, created by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The unveiling of Threads, a new application that aims to rival the popular micro-blogging platform Twitter, took place on Wednesday. This new platform, often referred to as the "Twitter Killer" by tech enthusiasts, serves as a companion to Instagram, the well-known photo-sharing network that Zuckerberg's company, Meta, acquired over ten years ago.
Within 48 hours of its launch, millions of users, including President Tinubu, have already signed up on Threads. In his first post on the platform, Tinubu humorously referred to himself as a "Tailor," cleverly playing on the name of the platform, Threads. He greeted his fellow users by stating, "My fellow Tailors, Idan has landed." The post was accompanied by a screenshot of the message.
President Tinubu's participation on the platform signifies the growing popularity and reach of Threads among users, including influential figures like political leaders. As the platform continues to gain traction, it will be interesting to see how it competes with other social media giants in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
