A video that recently surfaced online has ignited a social media frenzy as a girl shared the hostel her friend secured in Unilag, priced at 350k.
According to available information, obtaining a hostel in the University typically involves a ballot system, and not everyone is fortunate enough to secure one.
However, some students who do secure hostels sometimes resell them at higher prices to others eager to live closer to their classes due to the convenience it offers.
The lady who shared the video of the Makama hostel expressed her disbelief, stating that her friend paid an exorbitant price of 350k for a hostel with conditions that were far from ideal. She mentioned issues such as a detached door, torn window net, and a lack of electricity in the room.
Reactions to the video:
@Ada_Ihiala said: "If you have 350k to buy a hostel space, why not get an apartment instead? The point of getting a hostel is mostly the cost and proximity to school, but omo! Since it's this expensive, kuku do your thing!"
@softie0001 exclaimed: "Ahhh. This is wickedness."
@Haywonofficial said: "Both of you are not serious; you see this one and you still paid for it?"
@umorumona wrote: "Even Kirikiri prison isn't like this."
@naomi_akerele commented: "This is Makama. A terrible place to stay."
