Reports have emerged of the Nigerian police force deploying tear gas at a gathering of individuals at the Lekki tollgate. These people had assembled in significant numbers to participate in a walk in remembrance of the late singer, Mohbad, and had initially refused to disperse as instructed by the police.
The peaceful walk in honor of Mohbad had begun several days prior, with the primary objective of drawing the attention of law enforcement agencies to launch an investigation into the possible circumstances surrounding the Nigerian singer's untimely death.
Late Singer, Mohbad.
Mohbad tragically passed away on September 12, with reports suggesting an ear infection as the cause. While the ear infection claim remains unconfirmed, the police and medical experts examined his lifeless body on Thursday, September 22.
In response to his passing, many of his supporters and concerned citizens held rallies in various parts of Nigeria to commemorate his memory. A significant gathering assembled at the Lekki tollgate for a candlelight procession to mourn the late singer.
However, during the late hours of the gathering, police officers arrived at the location. They urged and warned the peaceful attendees to disperse and return home due to the late hour. When the attendees refused to comply with the instructions and warnings from the Nigerian police force, tear gas was reportedly deployed to disperse the gathering.
