The Lagos State Police Force has officially named the auxiliary nurse responsible for administering an injection to the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, as the prime suspect in his tragic death. This revelation came to light during a press briefing conducted by Idowu Owohunwa, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, on Friday.
The singer's demise occurred on September 12, 2023, shortly after receiving an injection from an unidentified nurse. The circumstances surrounding Mohbad's passing raised significant questions and led to public outrage, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.
In response to these demands, the police took swift action by forming a 19-member committee to carry out a discreet inquiry. This investigation covers various aspects, including exhumation, autopsy, scene inspection, examination of medical reports, scrutiny of suspect records, and gathering witness statements.
Already, the Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody the nurse who provided treatment to Mohbad. It was reported that the singer had sustained injuries, leading him to seek nursing services at home. Mohbad's father, James Aloba, expressed suspicions about the auxiliary nurse who administered the injection, suggesting it may have played a role in his son's deteriorating health.
Additionally, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Lagos State Council, called for a thorough investigation into Mohbad's untimely death. They clarified that the individual responsible for administering the injection was not a registered nurse, further deepening the mystery surrounding this tragic incident.
