The Nigeria Police Force has responded to growing public concerns and initiated an investigation into the untimely demise of the singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Acting on the directive of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, a special homicide team has been formed to meticulously examine the circumstances surrounding the singer's death.
The team, composed of experienced homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), has already commenced its investigative efforts.
The decision to establish this specialized team was prompted by a combination of public concerns and an initial police review of the case. Their objective is to gather and assess all allegations, suspicions, and insinuations related to Mohbad's death.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police command’s spokesperson, conveyed that the team will conduct a professional, diligent, and timely investigation, possibly including exhumation, to ensure justice is served unequivocally.
Additionally, the Lagos State Government has pledged its unwavering support for the Special Investigation Team and is committed to providing any necessary assistance to ensure a comprehensive and diligent inquiry. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed this commitment during discussions with the state's police chief.
