The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has publicly rejected the recent verdict handed down by the Presidential Elections Petition Court regarding the outcome of the February 25, 2023, election. Obi made this decisive announcement during a press conference held at his residence in Onitsha on Thursday.
While acknowledging that the PEPC had diligently adhered to the legally mandated time frames, Peter Obi expressed a strong and unyielding disagreement with both the rationale behind the judgment and its final decision.
In his capacity as a presidential candidate and representing the Labour Party, Peter Obi has formally declared his intention to promptly challenge this judgment through the appellate process. He underscored that the PEPC's decision, though significant, is not the ultimate authority in this matter. Instead, he places his trust and confidence in the Supreme Court, which now carries the responsibility of evaluating and resolving this case.
Peter Obi called upon the Nigerian populace to maintain their focus, unwavering commitment to peaceful processes, and strict adherence to the rule of law. He emphasized that the matter has not yet reached its logical conclusion, indicating that there are further legal steps to be taken.
"I express respect for the Court's views and rulings but openly disagree with the judgment's rationale and final conclusions," he stated in part.
