Nigerian cleric, Pastor Dolapo Adelakun, has sent a heartfelt message to women, urging them to prioritize inner peace rooted in faith in God and genuine self-love rather than seeking fulfillment in relationships, children, or material possessions. She explained that these external things are temporary and can be lost, but peace grounded in God and self-love remains unshakable.
In a lengthy post shared on her Facebook page, Pastor Adelakun recounted how she received what she described as a “life lecture” from the Holy Spirit. The message, she said, emphasized that true peace only comes from holding on to two things: unwavering faith in God and unconditional love for oneself. She stressed that ownership of external things—such as family, marriage, or wealth—often leaves people vulnerable to heartbreak and disappointment when those things are taken away.
To illustrate this revelation, Adelakun narrated a personal encounter that left a deep impression on her. She recalled being invited to pray for a relative at a psychiatric hospital, an experience that reinforced the lesson. On entering the female ward, she was overwhelmed by the sheer number of women admitted, describing the space as “overcrowded with beautiful women of different ages, both old and young.” The matron accompanying her revealed that nearly all of the patients were battling mental health challenges tied to family and marital problems. Their struggles ranged from betrayal by fiancés, infidelity, and second marriages to the loss of children, disputes over inheritance, and accusations of witchcraft from loved ones.
By contrast, Pastor Adelakun observed that the male ward had only four patients in total. Of these, three were young men struggling with drug addiction, while the fourth was an elderly man suffering a mental breakdown following the loss of a high-paying job. For her, this comparison highlighted the disproportionate mental burden carried by women when it comes to emotional and relational issues.
Reflecting on the experience, she explained how it deepened her understanding of the Holy Spirit’s earlier message. “Do not own your children, do not own your husband, do not own your properties. Do not own anything that can be taken away from you. This is the secret of Peace,” she wrote. According to her, women must learn to detach from the illusion of ownership in worldly things and instead cling to spiritual and internal strength. She warned that the enemy often targets external possessions, but faith and self-love remain untouchable assets.
“Women, please stop holding on to anything apart from your FAITH IN GOD and your LOVE FOR YOURSELF. When every other thing fails, please keep these two. When you lose your mind, you have lost everything. The devil will shake everything you are holding on to, so be ready. Hold on only to the internal assets … faith and self-love,” she concluded.
