In a noteworthy incident, a young okada rider took a bold stance by confronting and essentially 'arresting' a police officer over the officer's refusal to pay for his transportation fare. A widely circulated video on the internet captures the intense exchange between the policeman and the motorcycle rider regarding the payment for the transportation service.
The video features a motorcyclist who narrates how the policeman hailed him for a ride and stated that he would pay him a sum of 15,000 naira upon reaching their destination. However, upon arriving at the specified location, the police officer declined to honor the agreed payment, leading to a heated argument that quickly drew a crowd from the neighborhood to witness the confrontation.
The enraged motorcyclist, addressing the gathered onlookers, vehemently declares that he will not permit the police officer to leave the scene without settling his dues. He sternly states, "Why did you bring me here? You told me that if we came here, you would give me fifteen thousand naira. Sir, you must give me my money today, and if you fail to do so, I will take matters into my own hands."
Speaking to his colleagues in the local language (Hausa), the motorcyclist adds, "If I don't disarm this man of his firearm today, then I am nobody. If I manage to apprehend this man, I am determined to take his gun away from him."
