Oil rig collapse in Delta State leaves one dead, three missing (Video)

An unfortunate incident occurred in Delta State on August 15, involving the collapse of a significant oil rig. Tragically, one person lost their life, while three others are reported missing as a result of the collapse. The rig, operated by Nigerian oil firm Depthwize and contracted by the joint venture of Seplat and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, collapsed during the early hours of Tuesday. The rig was en route to its intended drilling location at Ovhor in Delta State when the incident happened.

Seplat Energy Plc, the operator of the joint venture, confirmed the incident and provided details. They revealed that out of the 96 crew members, 92 have been accounted for and are safe. Sadly, one fatality occurred during the incident, and the search is on for three crew members who are still missing. The company's CEO, Mr. Roger Brown, expressed their regret over the incident and assured that emergency response and rescue efforts are underway in collaboration with authorities. The focus remains on the safety and well-being of the affected personnel and their families. The statement also mentioned that a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident will follow.
