A nurse recently took to social media to share her frustration over an encounter with a husband who, in response to medical advice, vowed to withhold food from his wife. This reaction followed the nurse's recommendation to abstain from intimacy for a month due to stitches from childbirth.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the nurse detailed an incident involving a patient who had just undergone an episiotomy during childbirth. The woman had to return to the hospital because her stitches had started to loosen, presumably causing concern.
Upon arrival, the husband appeared distressed, bringing his wife back for a follow-up. Initially, the nurse believed his outrage was rooted in genuine worry for his wife’s well-being as he angrily expressed dissatisfaction with the hospital, claiming improper care regarding the stitches.
The nurse shared her initial thoughts, stating, “I thought he was genuinely concerned when he started yelling at us, blaming the hospital staff for supposedly not doing our job right. We tried to calm him down and explain the procedure to him.”
However, as the nurse spoke further with the husband, she was taken aback by his comments. She described her shock when he revealed his frustration was not solely about his wife’s health. After being advised to avoid intimacy for the recommended recovery period, he responded, “That means she no go chop now,” implying that if intimacy was not possible, his wife would also not receive food.
The nurse explained, “At first, I thought his anger was out of genuine worry for her health. But his attitude changed as soon as we informed him that intimacy should be postponed for a month. He said, ‘She won’t be eating then,’ and his mother, who was there, even laughed like it was a joke.” The nurse added that his reaction left her both shocked and furious.
As her post circulated online, it sparked widespread discussions, with individuals expressing their outrage and concern over the husband’s behavior.
See some reactions below:
@MzTinzle: “When someone recently said that marriage is glorified prostitution for women, people criticized her, but here’s a prime example.”
@momentswtbreezy: “That stitch didn’t come loose on its own. That man is TERRIBLE.”
@lorlie_b: “I feel he’s lying. I suspect the stitches came loose because he ignored the guidelines and had intercourse with her. I’ve seen a similar case before where a husband admitted to having sex just a week after his wife gave birth.”
@dimma_olivia: “I’m not sure I can continue working in healthcare in this country. Scenarios like this could cause me to lose my license due to the frustration they cause.”
