During his address to church members, Pastor Miracle focused on the spiritual and material consequences of failing to pay tithes. He made it clear that while neglecting to tithe would not ultimately stop believers from entering heaven, it could have significant repercussions on both their heavenly status and their earthly wealth.

Pastor Miracle reassured his congregation that non-tithers could still gain access to heaven but warned that their journey would resemble that of Lazarus, the poor man from the Bible who went to heaven in a state of poverty and suffering. He contrasted this with the experience of those who regularly tithe, comparing their heavenly experience to that of Abraham, who is often portrayed as a symbol of wealth and divine favor in the scriptures.

In his sermon, Pastor Miracle referenced the story of Lazarus, a man who was poor on earth yet made it to heaven, though in a state of distress. He highlighted that while Lazarus ultimately reached the afterlife, his journey was far from glamorous, as he arrived “with his dirty body” and lacking the privileges enjoyed by others.

“If you don’t pay your tithe, you will go to heaven but in a Lazarus style,” Pastor Miracle explained, further stating that, “You’ll be very poor in this world but you will go to heaven. If you’re a tither, you will go in Abraham’s pattern. Lazarus went to heaven as a poor man with his body already eaten by worms, and had sore on his body.”

Pastor Miracle’s words ignited mixed reactions, with some congregants taking comfort in his assurance that tithing is not a requirement for salvation, while others questioned the implication that one’s heavenly experience could be affected by their earthly contributions.
