In a recent Twitter thread, Oyinkansola Alabi, a Nigerian writer, expressed her opinion that Nigerian women dump their husbands after relocating abroad due to the men's unkind and patriarchal behavior. She further stated that divorces between Nigerian couples in Western countries are primarily caused by the actions of the men.
Alabi firmly believes that if a man treats his partner fairly and justly while they are in Nigeria, no logical woman would leave him. However, some men tend to become unkind, unsupportive, and patriarchal to their women after relocating to a foreign country, which eventually leads to a breakup or divorce.
She clarified that evil has no gender, and anyone can change at any point. Moreover, men have been known to leave their wives for "papers" since time immemorial. Alabi emphasized that a good woman who is treated well is less likely to switch up on her partner, but no normal human being would stay with a wicked soul. Thus, if a man continues to be wicked to his partner while abroad, she will eventually dump him. She urged people to stop emotionally blackmailing women who choose to leave their partners due to their behavior.
According to Alabi, women are dumping their horrible partners, and more of it will happen if the men refuse to change their behavior. She concluded by stating that the men are no longer in the lawless crime scene called Nigeria, and they need to adjust their mindset and behavior accordingly.
