Identified as Irogbum Godspower Worlu, the man took to Facebook to express his disappointment over the fact that many parents who dedicated their lives to raising children are eventually left in the care of strangers at homes for the elderly. He lamented the apparent erosion of filial duty and the emotional toll it takes on both parents and observers alike.

In his post, Worlu wrote: “Sad 😭😭😭😭😭. Life is indeed a mystery. I found myself reflecting deeply today after seeing pictures of a Home for the Elderly.

“Imagine, a person carries a pregnancy for nine months, gives birth, and then spends decades raising that child — from infancy to adulthood. The sleepless nights, the sacrifices, the prayers, the relentless hard work, all invested into shaping a life and nurturing a future generation.

“Yet, after the child grows, succeeds, and perhaps becomes wealthy or influential, they may still turn around and place their parent in a home where strangers assume the responsibilities that the family should shoulder themselves.

“🤔Is this truly the reward of parenthood? 🤷 Where did we lose our sense of family, loyalty, and responsibility? The thought alone brought tears to my eyes. It is a sobering reality that underscores how times have changed. Still, I say: It is well.”

The post resonated with many online, sparking discussions on the shifting dynamics of family values, intergenerational respect, and the emotional costs associated with neglecting elders. Worlu’s candid message captured both his sorrow and a plea for a society that honors and cares for its aging population.

He further reminded his audience that old age is a phase of life that everyone hopes to reach, urging people to treat their parents with love, care, and dignity. His message emphasized that showing respect to one’s parents is not only a moral obligation but also a legacy and an investment in the values we hope to receive in our own later years.

He concluded: “Let us not forget that old age is a stage of life every one of us hopes to reach. Treating our parents with love and dignity is not just a moral duty — it is a seed we are sowing for ourselves.”
