The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a young man who murdered his girlfriend because she intended to end their relationship for another man. According to the Command's spokesperson, DSP Muhammad Jalige, the suspect was almost lynched by a mob on April 21, 2023, before he was rescued. The police received a distress call about a mob action at NEPA Roundabout in Kaduna metropolis, where a violent crowd was about to attack a man. The operatives quickly responded and found the suspect lying unconscious and surrounded by the mob. DSP Jalige stated that the suspect used a machete to attack his girlfriend from Old Command Secondary and Nursery School, Sokoto Road, Kaduna, inflicting various degrees of injury on her face, arms, and hands. He allegedly cut off her left arm because she planned to leave him for another man. The victim was immediately taken to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, where a doctor confirmed her death. DSP Jalige disclosed that the victim's corpse had been deposited at the same hospital for an autopsy.
