A local chief and his two sons were apprehended by the Yobe Police Command on Saturday for the alleged murder of Goni Waje in Dako Kangarwa village, Yunusari Local Government Area. In a statement released by the Command's spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, it was revealed that the incident took place on June 7 after the chief's sons, Jalomi and Ciroma, accused Waje of having an affair with Bulama's wife. According to an eyewitness, the suspects attacked Waje with a cutlass and then set him on fire, resulting in his death. The confrontation initially began as a fight between Waje and Bulama, during which Waje injured Bulama with a knife. Subsequently, Bulama allegedly instructed his children to seek revenge by burning Waje alive. Following the incident, the three suspects surrendered themselves to the Yunusari Divisional Police Station. Bulama, while seeking medical treatment for his injuries, involved the police, leading to the arrest of Waje as the initial accused. The suspects were subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. The body of the deceased, Waje, was taken to the Specialists Hospital in Damaturu for autopsy and further examination.
