The best-graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2021/2022 academic session, Aminat Yusuf, has revealed the remarkable study routine that enabled her to achieve an extraordinary 5.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA). In June, Yusuf made history by becoming the first LASU undergraduate to accomplish a perfect CGPA in 40 years.

During an interview with BBC Pidgin, the exceptional law graduate shared the secrets to her academic success. She emphasized the importance of having genuine passion for one's studies and mentioned that her passion for academics was the driving force behind her achievement. Yusuf acknowledged that the journey to academic excellence would have challenging moments, but having a strong passion for the subject matter helped her overcome such obstacles.

In order to attain her impressive CGPA, Yusuf followed a rigorous study routine, dedicating an astonishing 18 hours every day to her studies while in school. She efficiently managed her time by dividing her subjects for the day into three parts, allocating six hours to each. This disciplined approach allowed her to cover a wide range of topics thoroughly and efficiently.

Offering advice to students aspiring for academic greatness, Yusuf urged them not to procrastinate and wait until the last minute to start studying. Instead, she encouraged consistent and diligent effort throughout the academic term. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of seeking help from senior colleagues or lecturers whenever encountering difficult concepts to gain a deeper understanding of the subjects.

Yusuf's pursuit of a perfect CGPA was fueled by her outstanding performance in her direct entry (DE) program at LASU, where she attained an impressive 4.98 CGPA. Her dedication and commitment to her studies continued to pay off, leading her to achieve an even higher CGPA during her undergraduate studies.

The exceptional achievements of Aminat Yusuf did not go unnoticed. At the 26th convocation and 40th anniversary of Lagos State University, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu awarded her a generous sum of N10 million. The governor personally donated N5 million, and another N5 million came from the Lagos State government.

Furthermore, Yusuf's excellence garnered recognition beyond financial rewards. She was offered automatic employment in the public service of her home state, Edo State, by Governor Godwin Obaseki. The governor's offer of employment was conveyed to her parents by the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., who expressed the state's admiration for her outstanding achievements.
