A lady has ignited widespread discussion on social media after sharing a controversial opinion about men, money, and relationships, prompting both support and criticism from users online.
In a post on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, a lady identified as @Big_yemm stated bluntly that women will not take men seriously if they do not spend money on them.
She emphasized that financial gestures, or at the very least efforts to make a woman’s life easier, are crucial for men who hope to earn respect and attention in relationships. According to her, failing to do so could result in a man being dismissed or not regarded seriously by women.
Her post read: “Unfortunately, no woman will take you seriously if you don’t spend money or at least make her life easier.”

Reactions from social media users
Mazi Chubby wrote: “We never hear things like this from elite and rich ladies. Always the kpangolo almajiri’s.” He implied that only certain categories of women focus on financial contributions in relationships, making a sharp contrast with women from more privileged backgrounds.
Hollumuyiwa added: “It’s quite disgraceful to see how these Almajiris have reduced healthy relationships to mere transactions. Apart from Ethiopians, Nepalis and pillipinas, I don’t see other women prioritising money over real affection in a relationship. What our ladies are becoming is so sad to imagine.” This comment criticized a perceived shift toward transactional relationships among women in Nigeria.
KC weighed in, stating: “It’s funny to see that many modern Nigerian women seem to reduce love to a transaction. They prioritize money and spending, which means that the highest bidders can easily win them over. In the end, it feels like everything is just about making a deal. If you expect them to take you seriously, it often comes down to providing financial support in exchange for s*x.” KC’s remarks highlighted concerns about relationships becoming increasingly materialistic.
Chiamaka supported @Big_yemm’s position, saying: “True, you can repeat that again and again and again. I mean, if you’re not going to be making my life easier then don’t be in my life. It’s that simple. Nobody is going to trade—no woman is going to trade that piece of mind for anyone who’s going to make their life chaotic.” Chiamaka emphasized that women prioritize stability and comfort, reinforcing the idea that men’s contributions significantly impact how seriously they are taken in relationships.
The debate continues online, with many users examining the intersection of financial support, respect, and emotional connection in modern relationships, as the post continues to circulate widely across platforms.[/p>
