North Korean leader Kim Jong Un became emotional, urging thousands of women to boost the nation's declining birth rate during a National Mothers’ Meeting in Pyongyang.
Dressed in traditional robes, women wept alongside Kim as he emphasized the importance of raising children with communist values and addressing societal challenges.
The event, the first National Mothers’ Meeting in 11 years, aimed to counteract North Korea's alarming decrease in birth rates.
Kim, addressing the audience as 'Dear Mothers,' outlined various tasks, including upholding revolutionary ideals, eliminating non-socialist practices, promoting family harmony, and halting the declining birth rate.
He highlighted the collective responsibility to handle these tasks and called for unity with mothers in facing societal challenges.
The emotional plea included Kim drying his tears with a handkerchief while addressing the crowd, and images of the event were shared on social media.
