The Kano state government orchestrated a mass wedding ceremony on Saturday, October 14, uniting 1800 couples in the sacred bond of matrimony.
This extraordinary event was initiated to provide support and relief, particularly to widows and divorcees facing challenging circumstances.

In addition to this financial support, the state provided the newlyweds with essential gifts, including a bed, food, and clothing.
These gifts were intended to help the couples start their new lives with dignity and security.
However, a unique provision attached to these gifts is that the couples are required to repay them to the state government in the unfortunate event of a divorce.
