One Nigerian woman, on Twitter @madamolu, has shared her harrowing experience of giving birth in a dilapidated hospital while her husband watched on, despite having the means to pay for better healthcare. The woman revealed that she was forced to give birth in the rundown hospital due to a lack of funds, unaware that her husband had ample money to cover the costs of a better facility.
The woman recounted how she struggled to push the baby out during natural delivery, fearing that she couldn't afford a cesarean section (CS). She expressed her shock and disappointment upon discovering that her husband had bought a landed property just one week after she had given birth.
In a Twitter post, the woman wrote, "I remember when I was giving birth struggling for my life and unable to push the baby out in a dilapidated health center cos I couldn’t afford a good Hospital & my supposedly father of the child was watching me fight for my life while he has a lot of money in his acct & bag then. And poor me was praying while on hospital bed for more strength, cos I was almost gone and I thought we couldn’t afford CS, alas baby came out with lots of tears and placenta rupture, the next week the Oga got a Landed property🫱🏾🫲🏼 Selfishness at its peak 🤮."
The woman's story has elicited sympathy and outrage from social media users, many of whom have criticized the husband's selfish behavior.
