A well-known hotelier, Emekeme Joseph, widely recognized as Semikolo, tragically lost his life after being mercilessly beaten to death by his own sons in Delta State.
The shocking incident unfolded when Joseph's two sons, who had recently graduated from a prestigious school in Ota, discovered their father's alleged involvement with another woman.
The sons, feeling betrayed and angered by their father's infidelity, confronted him and demanded a bribe of one million naira. They threatened to inform their mother, who happened to be vacationing in the United States at the time.
Despite the grave nature of their threats, Joseph refused to comply, dismissing his sons' demands. Unyielding, the sons decided to inform their mother about the affair, which unsurprisingly incensed her greatly.
The following day, Joseph ventured to his wife's workplace, where the sons confronted him and forcefully expelled him from the premises.
According to insiders, consumed by anger, the father returned home and confiscated his sons' car keys, further infuriating them. This action ignited a violent confrontation, as they physically attacked their father, unleashing a barrage of blows and kicks. The situation escalated to the extent that a police officer attempting to intervene was also injured during the altercation.
As a result, the authorities swiftly apprehended the sons, while Joseph, in critical condition, was rushed to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, his health rapidly declined, necessitating his transfer to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital in a desperate bid to save his life.
In a bewildering twist, Joseph's wife abruptly returned to the country and managed to secure the release of her sons from police custody. Shockingly, against medical advice, she discharged her comatose husband from UBTH and brought him back to their residence in Ugbeyiyi, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Adding to the disturbing nature of the situation, Joseph's wife deceitfully claimed to his concerned friends that they were in Lagos, concealing the true gravity of the circumstances.
Following the incident, it has come to light that Joseph's wife has changed her name on all her social media accounts, reverting to her maiden name and removing any mention of her husband's name, further deepening the sense of sorrow and tragedy surrounding this harrowing event.
