[p]Tragedy struck in Calabar, Cross River State, as five corps members lost their lives in a devastating accident when the bus they were traveling in plunged into a river.
[/p][p]The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, June 5 while the victims were on their way to their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA). The bus veered off a bridge and tragically submerged in the river, resulting in the drowning of all occupants, including the corps members.
[/p][p]Andrew Zemoh, the Cross River State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), confirmed the report and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. He stated that the timing of the victims' burial would be determined by their respective families.
[/p][p]Comr Salau George Alexander, a Facebook user who claimed to have been in the same camp as the victims during their time in Cross River's Obubra camp, Batch A, Stream 2, shared photographs of the deceased individuals on the platform. He expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic loss and described the victims as close friends who were inseparable during their camp days. Alexander called for prayers and expressed his belief that they have now found eternal peace.
