Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti, strongly asserts that former President Muhammadu Buhari is responsible for setting Nigeria back by 50 years, and should not be hailed as a blessing to the country.
In an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, Fayose expressed his strong belief that Buhari's administration has significantly regressed Nigeria's history by five decades.
As Nigerians grapple with economic hardships, including soaring prices of essential commodities, protests have erupted across the country. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) declared a nationwide mass protest for February 27 and 28 to address the economic challenges.
Fayose, reacting to the economic situation, contended that Buhari's administration has been detrimental to the nation's economy, accusing it of taking loans that would burden future generations. He criticized the praises offered by Tinubu to Buhari, urging him to refrain from confusing Nigerians about the challenges created by the former president.
The former Ekiti governor questioned the sustainability of reviving the economy within a short timeframe, given the extent of damage incurred during Buhari's eight-year tenure.
He cautioned against celebrating Buhari's legacy, stating, “Buhari is not a blessing to Nigerians, with all due respect. President Buhari is not a blessing to Nigeria, he drew us back to 50 years of our history.”
