A young father caught the attention of the school authorities after witnessing his son being intentionally pushed to the ground by his friend. Twitter user @GbengaWemimo shared a story about how he handled the situation when he picked up his children from school.

“Went to pick my children in school yesterdayIt was raining heavilyMy son saw the car and started running towards meOne of his friends deliberately stuck a leg out and tripped himMy son fell face first on the grassHis clothes dirtyHe got up and charged at the culpritI got Out of the carI called his nameHe looked at me and stoppedI smiled and said “You are royalty, you will not retaliate to the barb of commoners”He nodded, picked his bag and got in the carWe began to talk about interesting stuffI acted like what happened didn’t happenIt is not an issue at allThis morning as I drove him to schoolI told him if his friend came to apologize he should be graciousIf his friend didn’t apologize, he shouldn’t keep malice but he must keep the friend at arms lengthNo good friend willingly trips his or her friend When I got to their school today two teachers were waiting for meThey said they saw what happened yesterday and would like me to come and speak to the students on emotional intelligence sometimes next weekI declined because my calendar is fullI can’t fit them in at all When I picked up my son I asked him if his friend came to apologiseHe said yesI said and what did you do?He said I accepted the apology but kept far away from himI nodded!We did ice cream treat and it has become one of those life experiences now!
